Martial Canterel (Sean McBride of Xeno & Oaklander) announces Dais debut Gyors, Lassù

Perhaps you know Sean McBride as Xeno & Oaklander’s second-best dancer, or perhaps you simply know him as the guy triggering your OCD as he manipulates several Eurorack synths via hundreds of unorganized patch cables. Maybe you don’t know him at all, but I can imagine after reading that previous sentence, he almost feels like family at this point. Real unbridled McBrideheads know that, much like 1996-era Jim Carrey, the man refuses to be pigeonholed as “The Cable Guy,” and with that being said, I’m as pleased as Ralf Hütter to announce that McBride’s solo outfit Martial Canterel is releasing a new LP.

Titled Gyors, Lassú and out October 28 via Dais Records, the album features eight new songs of all-analog, minimal electronic pop à la DAF or SPK. Gyors heads in a slightly harsher direction than previous MC releases, with oscillators and feedback constantly threatening to overtake the layers of unornamented synths. There’s a lot going on at all times, and impressively, McBride knocked out the recording for the album in one take.
