Ought's Tim Darcy announces debut solo album Saturday Night, shares first single “Tall Glass of Water”

Tim Darcy, front man of Montreal post-punk quartet Ought, has just announced and detailed his debut solo album. It’s called Saturday Night, and it’s out February 17 on Jagjaguwar. He’s also shared a video for the first single from the record, “Tall Glass of Water,” along with 2017 tour dates. Check it all out below.

Saturday Night is described as sounding “like a person exploring his voice in a room full of people he trusts: joyful, shot through with struggle, unfakeably honest. Intimate and rollicking as a house show, delicate as a late-night phone call.” “Tall Glass of Water” seems to also suggest inspiration from New York proto-punk and The Velvet Underground, but that’s just the center square of indie rock bingo at this point.

Earlier this year, Darcy released a collaborative album with AJ Cornell on NNA Tapes, Too Significant to Ignore. Meanwhile, Ought last dropped a full-length record in 2015: Sun Coming Down on Constellation Records.
