Pitchfork announces Midwinter Chicago fest, with OPN, William Basinski, Panda Bear, & basically EVERYONE ELSE EVER
Dozens of top-shelf artists will basically be performing live in some of the coolest spaces on earth.

“Winter is nothing but dark and cold and depressing,” you say? Well, here’s a metaphorical syringe-load of VITAMIN D for you: Pitchfork has just announced the line-up for Midwinter Chicago — a weekend-long art and music extravaganza of positively RIDICULOUS PROPORTIONS that’s going down within the world-class (and CLIMATE-CONTROLLED!!!) confines of the Art Institute of Chicago.

Said-extravaganza — which takes place February 15–17, 2019 (i.e. right after that stupid groundhog fails to see his shadow and once again middle-fingers us all) — will feature a veritable OFFICIAL CITY OF CHICAGO SNOWPLOW’S-LOAD of amazing artists performing both “scheduled” and “surprise” sets in some truly unique spaces throughout the museum. Those artists include Slowdive, William Basinski, Laurie Anderson, Panda Bear, Deerhunter, serpentwithfeet, Kamasi Washington, Grouper, Yves Tumor, Tortoise, DJ Koze, Jlin, Oneohtrix Point Never… And you’d better believe ellipses are the appropriate punctuation mark to end that previous sentence with, because that list JUST KEEPS GOING.

ADDITIONALLY: there’ll also be lots and lots of “original Music and ambient installations” from the esteemed likes of Nico Muhly and Stars of the Lid, while other artists will be “installing original music productions to play throughout different gallery spaces, both inspired by and responding to the iconic works at the Art Institute.”

THIS IS NOT A DRILL, folks. Tickets go on sale TOMORROW (November 16) at 10am CST. Dizzingly complete line-up and scheduling information can be found here. But also, before you go clicking away from here, just you feast your eyes on this shit down below and THEN try and tell me you’ve got the winter blues:
