If Steve Gunn were to incorporate and float stocks in “Steve Gunn Inc.” on the stock exchange, I’d be telling everyone I know to invest. The dude’s on an incredible rise at the moment.
Following on from last year’s Way Out Weather, an album that had pretty much every music journalist this side of Mars peeing their pants, and a sneaky return to his rambling acoustic rumbling roots with a Mike Gangloff collaboration earlier this year, Gunn has now joined the sound stable of Matador Records.
The move is probably a logical one, given that Matador is also home to Kurt Vile, who Gunn aided as a Violator. Logic or not, it’s great news for “Steve Gunn Inc.,” and to celebrate, he’s embarking on a huge tour as he careens out of the South by South West Festival and into a run of dates with Wilco and sojourns around the Northern Hemisphere for the summer.
