Wolf Eyes announce expansive reissue of landmark album Dread; find a copy underneath your pillow in July!

Newflash (because this is the news section): the lovably noisy outfit from Michigan known as Wolf Eyes aren’t just “still cool.” As my colleague Dan Smart pointed out, they’ve been PERENNIALLY cool; which basically serves as a testament to the value of the Wolf Eyes project going all the way back to the late 90s when founder Nate Young initially started experimenting with recording methods and mediums and creating his own album art. The lauded (and significant in a genre context) album Dread followed a few years later, and by then, John Olson and Aaron Dilloway had joined the effort by virtue of their shared willingness to espouse dissonance as a means of personal enrichment.

Dread originally came out in 2001, and up until now, it had only received a digital and a limited cassette reissue. July 13 will mark the reissue of Dread on vinyl, CD, and digital, as the Wolf Eyes label Lower Floor takes over the dramatic role of label sponsorship originally played by Olson’s American Tapes label and Dilloway’s Hanson Records. (The album’s freaky, circuit-bent squalls might sound not sound quite so terrifying to the noise-indoctrinated ears of 2018, but they’ll probably still curdle the blood of the uninitiated.)
